Inquiry

An inquiry is not an application. If you have questions regarding one of our animals we will happily connect with you via email and do our best to answer in a timely manner. Even if you have questions, it is recommended to submit an application as it is non-binding and we prioritize applicants over inquiries, especially on popular animals.

What to expect

We review applications in the order they are received. We also look for the best fit so the first applicant may not be chosen to meet the animal.

The Application:

  1. You must fill out the application and be approved before meeting the animal.

  2. Once you submit the application:

    • If you currently have animals, contact your veterinarian to allow release of medical information.

    • Make sure your personal references are aware we will be contacting them.

  3. We will make every effort to contact you about your application within 72 hours. We are an all volunteer organization and most work full time jobs.

Approvals and Denials:

  1. Approval is not guaranteed

  2. If approved, we will contact you to schedule a meet and greet

  3. If denied, we will provide you with details about the denial and if possible, give you an opportunity to remedy any issues.

Scheduling the meeting and location:

  1. We will work with you to set up a meeting within a few days of notifying you of your approval and discuss meeting location.

  2. Most meetings occur at a local pet store or at/near the foster’s home.

  3. We will try and make reasonable accommodations for schedule conflicts. Due to the severity of the animal crisis, we cannot hold animals. We thank you for your understanding.

The Meet and Greet:

  1. Unless otherwise stated in the animal profile, all animals listed are ready for immediate adoption.

  2. You are not obligated to adopt at the meet and greet but we only allow 24 hours to make a decision before we move to the next applicant.

  3. If you have animals that will interact with the the animal you are looking to adopt, you are encouraged to bring them to the meet and greet.

The Adoption:

  1. All adoptions are electronic. If you do not have a cell phone, we will use a phone or laptop at the meet and greet to process your adoption.

  2. We recommend using a charge card for payment but do accept cash and checks.

  3. Once electronically signed, the adoption paperwork will be emailed to you.

  4. Adoption paperwork also includes any relevant medical information for the animal. Standard information varies by animal type.

Post Adoption:

  1. Please follow us on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube (links at the bottom of each page). We love to get updates on our adopted animals.

  2. We will reach out after the adoption to see how things are going.

  3. If at any point you are unable to care for the animal, they are to be returned to A Road Home. We do ask for at least a 2 week window for returns so we can find a suitable foster.
